Verona Health Care Worker Wins $25,000 Prize Instantly

Story Photo An occupational therapist from Verona won $25,000 on her way to work on April 7. Melissa Miller, 35, said she was on her way to a client’s house to do home health therapy when she stopped at Casey’s, 8082 E. Seventh St., in Duenweg for some water. While there, she also bought five Scratchers tickets. When she scratched them off in her van, she discovered that one from the "5 Times Lucky" game was worth the game’s $25,000 top prize.
"It took me awhile to add it up," she said. "I called my husband, Bill. He didn’t believe me at first."
Miller said she plans to pay off her truck with her prize money. She’s not sure what she will do with the money that is left.
"I’ll probably just go buy myself another ring," she said.
"5 Times Lucky," a $2 game, officially started Dec. 21, 2005.
