Belle Man Uncovers $1,000 Instant Prize

Story Photo A Belle man and his wife are planning to do a little shopping after they won $1,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "Sapphire Blue 7’s." Victor and Lori Moss said they are still in shock after learning they had won $1,000 with the ticket Victor purchased April 11 at Casey’s, 402 S. Highway 28, in Belle.
"I went in to cash a $2 (winning) ticket," Victor Moss said. "I traded the ticket for a ’Sapphire Blue 7’s’ ticket and won another $2, so I went back in and got another "Sapphire Blue 7’s" ticket and thought I won $10."
Moss, 40, said he took his ticket back into the store to have it cashed, but the clerk told him she couldn’t cash it because it was worth $1,000.
"After Victor called me at work to tell me he had $1,000, I went outside to watch President Bush’s motorcade go by, and (the president) waved at me," Lori Moss said. "I had a good day yesterday."
Moss, who works in golf course maintenance at the Belle Country Club, said in addition to shopping, he and Lori plan to use their prize money to pay bills and share some with Victor Moss’ sister.
"Sapphire Blue 7’s" is a $2 Scratchers game that began on March 25.
