Camdenton Man Claims $200,000 Tax-Paid Raffle Prize; Columbia Man Claims $20,000 Tax-Paid
A self-employed dental lab technician from Camdenton recently found out he won the $200,000 tax-paid* grand prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "20th Anniversary Dream Draw" raffle promotion drawing on Feb. 24. Todd Eichler, 40, said the prize is going to change his family’s lives.
Eichler said before the promotion even started, he had been telling his wife, Tracy, that if they could just get about $200,000, they would be "set." When he saw the "20th Anniversary Dream Draw" raffle promotion brochure in a convenience store, he told himself that he was going to win it.
"When I walked into the store yesterday, I had a feeling I’d won," said Eichler, describing when he checked his raffle ticket on March 9.
Eichler bought his winning ticket at Wood’s Supermarket, 8845 5 Highway N. in Camdenton. His winning raffle number was 0 2 0 0 0 1 2 2 9 3. Since the taxes are paid on this prize, the prize’s value is $281,690.10.
"I probably bought 15 or 20 dollars worth of tickets (for the promotion), and I got a $20 instant winner, so it basically paid for itself," he said.
Eichler said he will use his prize money for a college fund for his infant son, pay off their car loan and put some money towards a jewelry business he has started. He and Tracy also plan to use it for an upcoming trip to a NASCAR race.
"It’s going to make Talladega a lot more fun," said Tracy Eichler.
A Columbia man also claimed his raffle prize on Friday, March 10. Roger Burkett, 38, of Columbia, found out that morning when he stopped for gasoline that he held the $20,000 tax-paid* winning ticket from the Feb. 10 drawing.
"I came about this close to throwing them (raffle tickets) away," said Burkett.
Burkett said he bought the raffle tickets in early February at Everyday Convenience, 910 Fairgrounds Road in Jefferson City, when he was buying Powerball tickets. His winning raffle number was 0 2 0 0 0 4 5 0 6 7.
"The clerk talked me into buying the Dream Draw raffle tickets," he said.
Burkett, who installs audio-video equipment for the Entertainer in Jefferson City, said he plans to share some of his prize with a friend who was with him when he bought his winning ticket. He also plans to use some for an upcoming trip.
"My wife and my 10th anniversary is this year, and we’re talking about going to the Bahamas," he said. "Maybe we’ll upgrade and go somewhere a little different."
The Numbers Game raffle started on Jan. 23 and ended Feb. 23. It was introduced to help the Lottery celebrate its 20th anniversary, which was Jan. 20. During the raffle promotion, players could win $20 instantly at the time of purchase, or they could win a $20,000 tax-paid prize in one of four weekly drawings. All tickets sold were eligible for a final grand-prize drawing for $200,000 taxes paid.
