Maryland Heights Woman Wins $10,000 at Women's Show
A Maryland Heights woman came away from last weekend’s St. Louis Women’s Show $10,000 richer after she visited the Missouri Lottery’s booth at the show, purchased a ticket and scratched the game’s top prize. Colleen Everson said she was visiting the show with a friend and her sister when she decided to try her luck by purchasing a few Lottery tickets.
Everson, who is the Courts Service coordinator for the St. Louis Courts, said she doesn’t play the Lottery often, but her friend wanted to buy a few tickets, so she decided to, as well. During the St. Louis Women’s Show, which was held at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, the Lottery was awarding a free T-shirt to individuals who purchased $10 worth of tickets. Everson said she bought $10 worth so she could take a T-shirt home for her husband, Roger.
One of the Scratchers tickets she purchased, "Bankroll," proved to be worth $10,000.
"We were already planning to take a cruise for a vacation this year, and the kids wanted to swim with the dolphins," Everson said. "I told them that I didn’t think we would be able to afford it, but now we can. We can all swim with the dolphins if we want to."
"Bankroll," a $1 game, officially started on Sept. 10, 2005.
