Rolla Man Helps Children with Instant Win
A 47-year-old government teacher added to his "bankroll" when he won $10,000 instantly. On Feb. 12 Gary Young of Rolla stopped at Phillips 66, 1010 Forum in Rolla, to purchase a newspaper. His 7-year-old twin daughters, Darby and Taylor, talked him into playing the $1 "Bankroll" game, even though he usually doesn’t play the $1 Scratchers games. Lucky for Young, the girls proved to have excellent intuition when his ticket revealed the top prize of $10,000.
"You think ’this can’t be right,’" Young said. "Then you look at it again and the realization sets in. It’s such a unique feeling."
Young said his children will benefit the most from the prize. His son, Nick, attends Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Young said he had a tuition payment due, so he will use part of his winnings toward Nick’s tuition. He plans to use the rest of the prize to take his family to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
"Bankroll" officially began on Sept. 1, 2005.
