St. Louis Retiree Wins $200,000 In Powerball

Story Photo A retired heavy equipment operator from St. Louis (63126*) turned $5 worth of Powerball plays into a $200,000 prize when one of his Quick Pick plays matched all five white-ball numbers in the Feb. 1 drawing. Kresimir "Bud" Budrovich, 87, said he has been playing Powerball for years. Budrovich purchased his winning ticket Jan. 31 at Lindbergh Amoco, 4504 S. Lindbergh in St. Louis. His lucky numbers were: 11, 13, 30, 35 and 55. "My wife wants to get a new bedroom set," he said. "We might do a little work on the house, too." The second-level prize increased from $100,000 to $200,000 when Powerball underwent a game redesign that took effect on Aug. 28, 2005. The game changes were made to create larger and faster growing jackpots. Since the game’s redesign, 20 winning $200,000 Powerball tickets have been sold in Missouri. * winner’s zip code to help the media determine coverage area
