Arkansas Student Wins $10,000 On Ticket Bought in Cardwell

Story Photo An Arkansas finance major now has $10,000 for school costs after she uncovered the prize on a Missouri Lottery "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers ticket. Tiffany Buirts, 26, of Jonesboro, Ark., said she also plans to donate some prize money to the American Red Cross and her church. Buirts is a student at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Buirts said she bought her winning ticket on Jan. 10 at Mr. T’s Liquor Store, 510 U.S. Highway 412 in Cardwell. On Jan. 6, she bought five $10 tickets and won $500. When she redeemed her prize on Jan. 10, she bought five more $10 tickets; the first one she played was the $10,000 winner. "I had to call my friend and have her look at it," Buirts said. The new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, 2005, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
