Campbell Student Named Unofficial Grand-Prize Winner in Final Drawing

Story Photo An 18-year-old Campbell student’s name was drawn to win the top prize - a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab or the cash equivalent - in the Missouri Lottery’s third and final "Yuletide Thrill Ride" holiday promotion drawing held Jan. 18 in Jefferson City. Lindsey Rhody, a student at Three Rivers Community College, was named the unofficial top-prize winner in the third drawing. When Rhody provides the Lottery with the actual $10 ticket she used to enter the promotion via the Web site, she will be named the official winner. Rhody has 14 days to submit that ticket. Rhody said she and her husband, Jonathan, think they will probably take the truck and the $500. "We’ve been looking at getting a new truck, and that is exactly the one that I picked out," said Rhody, who turned 18 last June. "My mom and dad have one, my grandma and grandpa (have one) and a whole bunch of people in my family have Dodge Rams." Rhody said she even eyed the truck when she saw it in a Missouri Lottery promotional brochure. "I pointed at the truck (in the brochure), and I said, "Mom, that’s going to be mine,’" she said. The Missouri Lottery will pay standard federal and state withholding taxes on the truck, which is worth $33,000. The total value of the prize package is $46,478.87. Rhody’s winning entry consisted of one $10 non-winning ticket from the "$300,000 Season’s Greetings" Scratcher game. She purchased her ticket at Vancil Foods in Campbell, where she works as a cashier, along with attending college. Her husband, Jonathan, is the night manager for the store. The Lottery received more than 200,000 entries for the third drawing; 59 percent of the entrants entered through the Lottery’s Web site, and 41 percent of entrants mailed their entries or delivered them to a Missouri Lottery office. In addition to the grand-prize Dodge Ram truck or cash equivalent in the third drawing, 70 cash prizes ? 20 worth $1,000 for gas and 50 worth $500 ? were also awarded. A complete list of unofficial winners can be found at molottery.com. Players entered the promotion’s drawing on-line, by postal mail or by dropping entries at regional offices. An entry consisted of $10 worth of non-winning Scratchers tickets from five holiday games: "$300,000 Season’s Greetings," "Merry Money," "Cool Yule Bingo," "Ho Ho Holidays" and "Holiday Cash."
