Springfield Man Plans to Share $10,000 With His Kids

Story Photo A Springfield man who uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Sizzlin’ 7s" Scratchers game said he plans to share his prize money with his two grown children. Charles Hester, 65, also plans to use some of the prize money to pay bills. "I get enjoyment out of helping my kids," Hester explained. Hester bought his winning ticket Jan. 9, when he stopped at Kum & Go, 425 N.W. Bypass in Springfield, to put gas in his car. He bought four tickets, and he played them at the store, though he didn’t realize his winnings were that large. "I didn’t have my glasses with me, so I didn’t realize it was that much," he said. "I got a good surprise when I got home." "Sizzlin’ 7s," a $5 game, officially started on Oct. 8.
