Nixa Man Named Grand-Prize Winner in Second Holiday Drawing
A respiratory therapist from Nixa was drawn to win the top prize - a 2006 Chrysler Sebring© GTC or the cash equivalent - in the Missouri Lottery’s second "Yuletide Thrill Ride" holiday promotion drawing held Dec. 21 in Jefferson City. Pat Nagle, 52, said he will probably take the cash value of the prize - $30,000 - after taxes are withheld - instead of the car. The value of the prize package, before taxes, is $42,253.52.
"This is going to make a good Christmas," Nagle said. "This is going to pay for my kids’ school this next semester. I’ve got two kids in college and it’s (college costs) just pinning us to the board."
Nagle, who is a respiratory therapist at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, said he submitted just two entries at the Missouri Lottery’s Springfield office a couple of days before the drawing deadline. His winning entry consisted of five $2 non-winning tickets. He purchased the entry tickets at four different locations: Kum & Go, 5384 S. Campbell in Springfield; Kum & Go, 2808 S. Campbell in Springfield (where two tickets were purchased); Bullseye, 1306 W. Mt. Vernon in Nixa; and Pony Express III, 1901 N. U.S. Highway 160 in Nixa.
Nagle’s wife, Lisa, is also employed at St. John’s Hospital as a registered nurse. The couple are the parents of three children, ranging in age from 16 to 22.
The Lottery received 160,167 entries for the second drawing; 62 percent of the entrants entered through the Lottery’s Web site, and 38 percent of entrants mailed their entries or delivered them to a Missouri Lottery office.
In addition to the grand-prize Chrysler Sebring or cash equivalent in the second drawing, 70 cash prizes ? 20 worth $1,000 for gas and 50 worth $500 ? were also awarded. A complete list of unofficial winners can be found at molottery.com.
There is one more drawing left in the promotion. In the third drawing on Jan. 18, 2006, one name will be drawn to win a 2006 Dodge Ram® 1500 Quad Cab and $500 or the cash value, along with the 70 cash prizes. That drawing entry deadline is Jan. 11.
Players can enter the drawing on-line, by postal mail or by dropping entries at regional offices. An entry consists of $10 worth of non-winning Scratchers tickets from five current holiday-theme games: "$300,000 Season’s Greetings," "Merry Money," "Cool Yule Bingo," "Ho Ho Holidays" and "Holiday Cash."
