TWO ST. LOUIS PLAYERS WIN $25,000

Two St. Louis residents are $25,000** richer after matching all five numbers in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game. Jackie Tompkins (63112*), 42, and Dixie Cash (63139*), 79, each claimed a top prize in the game. Tompkins, who is a sales representative for a linen company, said he plans to use his windfall to pay bills, buy his wife a car, and share some with his parents and his two grown children. He purchased his winning ticket for the Oct. 23 drawing at Green Apple Liquor & Grocery, 600 N. Vandeventer in St. Louis. He let the computer select the winning numbers. They were: 5, 14, 17, 23 and 30. Cash, who is a retired sewing machine operator, plans to use her $25,000 prize to make repairs to her home and pay off her mortgage. She purchased her winning ticket for the Oct. 24 drawing at Schnucks Market, 5055 Arsenal in St. Louis. Cash also let the computer pick the lucky combination. The winning numbers were: 9, 14, 17, 21 and 25. * zip code to determine coverage area ** Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
