Arkansas Truck Driver Hauls In $20,000
A Huntsville, Ark., truck driver is celebrating the holiday season a little early after he won $20,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers game. Richard Stirling, 69, said he purchased his winning ticket on Dec. 2 at Snappy Mart, 3675 N. Highway 63 in West Plains, while in route to make a delivery.
"I try to stop there when I’m going through," Stirling said when he claimed his prize. "I’ve had some luck with tickets I’ve bought there."
Stirling said he called his wife, Bernita, to tell her the good news.
"She didn’t believe me," Stirling said. "She thought I was blowing wind at her. She’ll believe me when she sees the check."
Stirling said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
The "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
