Wappapello Woman Named Unofficial Top-Prize Winner In First Holiday Drawing

A Wappapello homemaker’s name was drawn to win the top prize - a 2006 Ford Escape® Hybrid or the cash equivalent - in the Missouri Lottery’s first "Yuletide Thrill Ride" holiday promotion drawing, held Nov. 30 in Jefferson City. Lisa Harris, 38, was named the unofficial top-prize winner in the first drawing. When Harris provides the Lottery with the actual tickets she used to enter the promotion via the Web site, she will be named the official winner. Harris has 14 days to submit those tickets.
Harris said she will probably take the cash value of the prize - $31,000 - after taxes are withheld - instead of the car. The total prize package, before taxes, is $43,661.97.
"I’ll probably take the cash and pay off the car that I have now," she said. "And, we’ll have a wonderful Christmas!"
Harris said she submitted seven entries through the Lottery’s Web site. Her winning entry consisted of 10 $1 non-winning tickets from the "Holiday Cash" Scratchers game. All of her entry tickets were purchased at Food Rite, Highway 50 in Wappapello.
The Lottery received 114,456 entries for the first drawing; 64 percent of the entrants entered through the Lottery’s Web site, and 36 percent of entrants mailed their entries or delivered them to a Missouri Lottery office.
In addition to the grand prize Escape Hybrid or cash equivalent in the first drawing, 70 cash prizes - 20 worth $1,000 for gas and 50 worth $500 - were also awarded. A complete list of winners can be found at
There are two more drawings left in the promotion. In the second drawing on Dec. 21, one name will be drawn to win a 2006 Chrysler Sebring® GTC and $500 or the cash value, along with the 70 cash prizes. That drawing entry deadline is Dec. 14.
The third drawing will take place on Jan. 18, 2006, and will feature a grand-prize 2006 Dodge Ram® 1500 Quad Cab and $500 or the cash value, and 70 other cash prizes. The entry deadline for the third drawing is Jan. 11, 2006.
Players can enter the drawing on-line, by postal mail or by dropping entries at regional offices. An entry consists of $10 worth of non-winning Scratchers tickets from five current holiday-theme games: "$300,000 Season’s Greetings," "Merry Money," "Cool Yule Bingo," "Ho Ho Holidays" and "Holiday Cash."
