Affton Couple Finds $30,000 Top Prize While Grocery Shopping

Most people get home from the grocery store with less money in their pockets, but not one Affton couple. George Wills, 73, and his wife, Frances, said they stopped at Schnucks Market, 1007 Gravois in St. Louis, on Nov. 17 for some groceries, and they bought one Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket for each of them. They played the tickets later at home, and Frances’ $2 ticket from the "Spicy Hot Cash" game ended up being worth $30,000.
"We’re going to buy a big TV," said Frances, when she claimed her prize on Nov. 17. "He’s (George) been wanting that so bad."
In addition to a new television, the couple said they plan to use some of the prize money to pay bills and visit relatives in Florida and Virginia.
"Spicy Hot Cash," a $2 game, officially went on sale July 30.
