Vichy Man Is Set After $300,000 Instant Win

Story Photo video icon A Vichy man no longer has a house payment after he uncovered a $300,000 top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s new "$300,000 Season’s Greetings" Scratchers game. Vincent "Vince" Lombardo, 48, said "the mortgage is gone." Lombardo bought his winning ticket on Nov. 12, when he went to Break Time, 1300 Highway 72 E. in Rolla, to fill up his car with gas before he and his wife, Yvonne, headed to Columbia for a short trip to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. While at the store, Lombardo bought some coffee, a cookie and one $10 Lottery ticket. Lombardo scratched some of the ticket in the car. Then he went to a friend’s house, uncovered the rest of the ticket and realized he won $300,000. Along with using the money to pay off the mortgage, the Lombardos plan to give $20,000 to each of their two sons, who work alongside their father doing concrete work for C & H Excavating in Rolla. Joey Lombardo, 26, said he plans to use his money to pay off his truck; Anthony Lombardo, 24, said he plans to "let it stack." "Instead of making the house payment, I am going to set up the ’Vinny Fund,’" said Lombardo. "We’ll use that money for a vacation or just blow it." Lombardo said he plans to put some of the prize money into an individual retirement account, and he would also like to buy a new car for his wife. "Like they say, ’You can’t win if you don’t play,’" said Lombardo. "$300,000 Season’s Greetings," a $10 holiday-themed game, officially started on Oct. 29.
