Shelbina Woman Wins $10,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Shelbina woman is thousands richer after she uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Sizzlin’ 7’s" Scratchers ticket. Virginia Williams, 64, purchased her winning ticket on Oct. 26 at Dobyn’s Market, 108 W. Maple St., in Shelbina. "I took the tickets out to the car to scratch them. When I saw I won $10,000, I thought to myself, ’This can’t be true,’" the retired grandmother said. "I took it back into the store to have them check it. Shelbina is such a small town that it didn’t take long for word to spread." Williams, who is a retired employee of the City of Chicago, said she plans to use her winnings to pay off some bills and maybe buy a few more lottery tickets. "Sizzlin’ 7’s," a $5 game, officially started on Oct. 8.
