Raytown Man Wins $77,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Raytown man added to his retirement fund after he won $77,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "Sizzlin’ 7’s" Scratchers game on Oct. 16. Charles "Chuck" Wobbe, 61, said he was stunned when he saw how much he won. "I went to Osco during the halftime of the Chief’s game," Wobbe said. "I bought a few tickets, and I scratched them off in my car. I just sat there until I could settle down. I was shaking like a leaf." Wobbe said he went home and showed the ticket to his wife, Celia, but she didn’t believe at first that the ticket was real. Wobbe, who works in the warehouse for Bayer Corporation in Kansas City, purchased his lucky ticket at Osco Drug, 9005 E. 350 Highway, in Raytown. He plans to use his winnings to pay off some bills and save the rest for retirement. "Sizzlin’ 7’s," a $5 game, officially started on Oct. 8.
