Three Missouri Players Each Win $853,492 In Record Powerball Drawing
Three Missouri Lottery Powerball players won not only the usual $200,000 second-level prize, but they also received a $653,492 cash bonus since the jackpot was hit for a total winnings of $853,492. In addition, one player who used Power Play and matched the numbers for the third-level prize ended up winning $50,000. Thousands of other Missouri players won more than $1 million in prizes ranging from $3 to $10,000. In all, Missouri Powerball players will take home more than $3.7 million in prizes from last night’s drawing.
"Don’t throw away your tickets if you don’t have all six numbers," said Larry Jansen, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. "There are eight other prizes in the game, so be sure to check your tickets closely."
Missouri Lottery Powerball players have 180 days from the drawing to claim their prizes, which in this case would be until April 17, 2006.
The three second-level $853,492 prizes were sold at: Jaspers, 1631 E. Malone, in Sikeston; Cables Grocery and Package, Highway NN in Steele; and 7-Eleven, 6085 N. Lindbergh in Hazelwood.
The third-level $50,000 prize was sold at Kum & Go, 609 E. Elm in Springfield.
Missouri Lottery Powerball sales for the jackpot run (since Aug. 10) were more than $38.4 million. Approximately $4.8 worth of Powerball plays were sold on Oct. 19 alone.
"The most important winner from this record jackpot run is Missouri’s public education," Jansen noted. "Approximately $14.2 million was generated for those programs."
