Jefferson City Woman Wins $10,000 Powerball Prize

Story Photo A Jefferson City woman is planning to increase her bank account after winning $10,000 prize playing Powerball. Cassandra Risase, 23, won the game’s third-level prize after her ticket matched four of the white-ball numbers and the Powerball number drawn on Oct. 5. Risase, who works as an operator at Von Hoffmann, said her husband, Hussein, checked the winning numbers on the Internet and told her she won. "I didn’t believe him," Risase said when she claimed her prize on Oct. 7. "I still don’t believe it." Risase purchased her winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 3870 Highway D in Lake Ozark. She said her family randomly selected the winning numbers. The third-level prize in Powerball recently was increased from $5,000 to $10,000 with a redesign of the game. The second-level prize also was increased from $100,000 to $200,000. The new game design took effect on Aug. 28.
