Rich Hill Woman Wins Second $1,000 Prize In Two Days
For the second time in two days, a Rich Hill woman won $1,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s new $100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers game. Monica Coppage, 33, purchased her second winning ticket on Oct. 4 at Foodfair Supermarket, 301 N. 14th St., in Rich Hill. She purchased the first winning ticket on Oct. 2 at Pump ’N Pete’s, 208 N. 14th St., also in Rich Hill.
Coppage said she went to the grocery store and saw the Lottery’s Instant Ticket Vending Machine. She decided to try her luck and put in $20 to buy the last two "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" tickets. When she scratched the tickets off, she realized that she had won $1,000 for the second time.
"It happens in threes, so maybe I’ll be calling tomorrow when I win the Powerball jackpot," Coppage told Lottery officials when she claimed the second prize.
Coppage, a homemaker, said she and her husband, Jim, plan to use their winningsto pay bills and go shopping. This isn’t the first time Coppage has been a big winner with the Missouri Lottery. In November 2001, Coppage won a car and a cash prize through the Lottery’s former "Fun & Fortune" television game show.
The new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
