St. John Truck Driver Hauls In $50,000 Tax Paid

Story Photo A 63-year-old truck driver from St. John hauled in a $50,000 tax paid* prize in the Missouri Lottery’s Sept. 10 SHOW ME 5 Paydown midday drawing. Richard "Rich" Deatherage said he plans to use his prize money to buy a new truck, fix up his house and save some for his upcoming retirement. "I have two years to retire," he said. "This will get me set to retire." Deatherage purchased his $1 winning Quick Pick ticket at Gaslight Inn, 10070 Natural Bridge in Woodson Terrace. To date, 92 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began Nov. 6, 2000. * The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
