Waynesville Woman Wins $1,000 In New Cash Spectacular
A Waynesville woman is cooking up some ideas on how to spend the $1,000 she won playing the Missouri Lottery’s new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers game. Lois Lofton, 56, said she bought her winning ticket on Sept. 14 at All Star Express, 906 Missouri Ave. in St. Robert, where she works as a cook and clerk.
Lofton said she bought the ticket while she was on break and scratched it off later while she was running errands with her daughter.
"My daughter bought a few tickets and scratched them off," Lofton said. "When she went to cash them in, I scratched off my ticket. I couldn’t believe what I saw. When (Lofton’s daughter) came back, she said she won $50 and wanted to share half of her prize with me. I held up my ticket and asked her if she wanted to share mine, too."
Lofton said she and her husband, Leroy, plan to use their winnings to get their vehicle fixed and share some with their daughter. This isn’t the first time Lofton has won a large Scratchers prize; she said she won $2,500 about eight years ago.
The new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
During the first week of sales, approximately $1.3 million in prizes was won by players.
