Salisbury Man Finds $10,000 Prize In New Game

Story Photo A self-employed timber cutter from Salisbury bought one $10 Scratchers ticket from the new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game and ended up winning $10,000. Willard "Peck" Hurt, 46, said he made his regular stop for gasoline at Casey’s in Shelbyville on Sept. 15 when he bought the winning ticket. Hurt isn’t sure what he will do with his prize money. "There will be something that will come along," he said when he claimed his prize at the Jefferson City Lottery office hours later. "I’ll save it back for a rainy day." The new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes. During the first week of sales, approximately $1.3 million in prizes has already been won by players.
