Kansas City Man To Buy Engagement Ring After Winning $3,250

Story Photo A wedding is in the future for Derek Law and his fiancee, Jan, and now he plans to buy her a diamond engagement ring after he won $3,250 on Sept. 13 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Pick 4 game. Law of Kansas City (64127)* bought his winning ticket at Speedy Food and Liquor Mart, 2519 E. 9th St., in Kansas City. Law, who is a car salesman, said he was on a test drive with a customer, and he noticed it was close to the draw time for Pick 4. "I asked her if she’d mind if we stopped so I could play my Lottery numbers," Law said. "She couldn’t believe that I wanted to stop, but she thought it would be okay. "I think I would’ve died if my numbers had come up, and I missed buying my ticket," he said. "I need to find that lady to let her know that I won." Law said the Sept. 13 win was the fourth time he had won playing Pick 4. He used his birthday to select his winning numbers. They were: 2, 5, 5 and 9. In addition to buying an engagement ring, Law said he also plays to fix his fiancee’s car with his winnings. Pick 4 is a daily Numbers Game that offers players a chance to win up to $6,000 by picking four numbers between 0 and 9. Players can also allow the computer to generate four numbers randomly for them. *zip code to help media determine coverage area
