Jefferson City Accountant Wins $10,000 In Cash Spectacular Game
A Jefferson City tax accountant has more of her own cash to count after uncovering a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers ticket. Theresa Seabaugh, 58, said she was grocery shopping at Gerbes, 1226 E. McCarty in Jefferson City, on Sept. 14 when the sign on the Lottery play center, promoting the new $100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, caught her eye.
"I was getting ready to buy a Powerball ticket, and I saw the sign," she said. "I had $10 in my coin purse, so I bought one ticket."
Seabaugh said she continued grocery shopping. When she was in the checkout line, the cashier noticed her ticket and told her that she had won $30 on the game.
"I told her, ’I hope I am at least as lucky as you,’" Seabaugh said.
When she went out and scratched the ticket in her car, she could hardly believe her eyes.
Seabaugh said she plans to use the prize money to pay taxes and use it during some upcoming lean months.
"I’m a tax accountant, so this is the part of the year that I struggle," she said. "This will take care of at least two or three month’s expenses."
The new "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
During the first week of sales, approximately $1.3 million in prizes has already been won by players.
