Caruthersville Businessman Finds $30,000 Top Prize

Story Photo A Caruthersville businessman can add $30,000 to his bottom line after he uncovered a top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Spicy Hot Cash" Scratchers ticket. Mark Rushing, 42, said he and his wife, Tammy, stopped in Pilot Travel Center in Hayti during the first week in September to eat at the Arby’s located within the business. While there, he redeemed a $10 winning Scratchers ticket he’d bought previously and bought some more tickets. One of those tickets turned out to be the big winner. "It felt good," he said. "My wife thought I only won $30. I told her to look at it (ticket) again." Rushing said he is planning to share his prize money with his wife and 18-year-old son, Bobby. "I’ll probably save my portion, and they can spend theirs," he said. Rushing said this isn’t the first large prize he has ever won. Three weeks ago, he won $85,000 in Tunica, Miss. Rushing owns three businesses, including a package store and a barbecue restaurant and lounge. "Spicy Hot Cash," a $2 game, officially went on sale July 30.
