Paris Woman Wins $10,000 On Vegas Game Before Going to Vegas

Story Photo A Paris woman uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "$100,000 Ticket to Vegas" Scratchers game just two days before taking a trip to Las Vegas. Rhonda Herron said she bought the winning ticket on Aug. 20, before she and four friends left on a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate her 50th birthday and a friend’s birthday. Herron purchased her winning ticket at Abel’s Quik Shop, 719 S. Main in Paris. She said she bought two tickets from the "$100,000 Ticket to Vegas" game, and she scratched them off later at home. But the $10,000 prize wasn’t the first big prize Herron has uncovered. On March 16, one day before St. Patrick’s Day, she uncovered a $20,000 prize on a "Leprechaun Luck" Scratchers ticket. She also bought that ticket at Abel’s in Paris. "I was amazed it happened again," she said. "I thought your 15 minutes of fame only happened once. It’s been a good year." Herron said she isn’t sure what she will do with this prize money. She still has some money from her previous win "set back." Herron is a registered nurse for the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, and she also works for Air E Vac Helicopter Service in Troy. "$100,000 Ticket to Vegas," a $5 game, officially went on sale July 30.
