Springfield Woman Finds Ticket Worth $30,000

A single mother in Springfield has some extra cash to take an end-of-the-summer vacation with her two boys after she uncovered a $30,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Hot 50s" Scratchers ticket. Sonya McAdoo, 35, said in addition to a vacation before school starts back up, she also plans to use her prize money to buy a new "dependable" car and some school clothes for her boys.
"I was thinking (about a vacation) somewhere with a beach," she said.
McAdoo purchased her winning ticket on Aug.8 when she stopped at Plus Express, 3264 E. Battlefield in Springfield, for gasoline and a Dr Pepper. She scratched off the prize later at Southwest Housing Locators, where she works.
"I had everyone else in the office look at it, too," she said.
"Hot 50s," a $2 game, officially went on sale April 23.
