Joplin Housekeeper Cleans Up $30,002 Playing Lottery

Story Photo A 59-year-old Joplin woman is $30,002 richer after she uncovered a top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Diamond Bingo" Scratchers game. Jeannette Emmert said she bought the winning ticket about three weeks ago at Discount Smokes and Liquor, 1817 S. Main St. in Joplin. She claimed her prize money on Aug. 1. "I about fell over," Emmert said, recalling the day she scratched off the ticket. Emmert, who works in housekeeping for a nursing home, said she plans to use the prize money for some home improvements, like fixing her front porch. She also plans to use some of the money to pay bills. "Diamond Bingo," a $2 game, officially started April 23.
