Poker Dealer Wins $25,000 in Powerball Using Power Play

Story Photo A poker dealer for Ameristar Casino in St. Charles dealt himself a winning hand by playing Powerball and using the Power Play feature on July 27. Anthony Janik, 53, of Godfrey, Ill., said he used a combination of birthdays to select his winning numbers on a ticket he bought at Fisca Oil, 14700 Highway 67 N. in West Alton. The winning numbers drawn were: 1, 4, 10, 13, 29 and the Powerball number was 3. Since Janik spent an extra $1 to add the Power Play and the Power Play number drawn that night was five, he won $25,000, instead of the usual $5,000. "I had to look at the numbers (in the paper) four or five times," he said when he claimed his prize. "It was a good feeling." Janik said he plans to use his prize money to pay bills. To win the $5,000 prize in Powerball, players must match four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number.
