Iowa Woman's Sweet Tooth Nets Her $2,100

An Iowa woman’s sweet tooth turned out to be lucky, too, after an urge for a Twix candy bar also became an urge to buy a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Cheryle Fourie of Hartley, Iowa, was visiting family when she won $2,100 recently playing the Lottery game "Lucky Loot." She purchased her winning at State Line Pit Stop, 1738 W. 160 Highway in Mindenmines.
"My mom had to go to get cigarettes, and I decided to go in, too, because I wanted a Twix bar," Fourie told Lottery officials when she claimed her prize on July 26. "I walked in and the counter (where the Lottery tickets are sold) was calling me name."
Fourie, 39, said she was waiting for her mother when the clerk asked her if he could help with anything else.
Fourie said she looked at the Scratchers tickets and said, "That one is calling my name." She purchased the $1 ticket and scratched it off. That ticket netted her $2,100.
"I don’t play that often, so I’m not sure why I felt like I had to buy one," she said.
Fourie said she and her husband, Ben, have been saving money to travel to South Africa to visit Ben’s family, so the money will go toward that trip.
"Lucky Loot," a $1 game, officially went on sale May 14.
