16th Proves To Be Lucky Day For Bolivar Man

Story Photo For the second time in the past four months, a Bolivar man has won a large Missouri Lottery prize on the 16th day of the month. On July 16, Larry Hayward, 58, uncovered a $9,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Triple Money" Scratchers ticket he bought at Wood’s Express in Bolivar. Just four months ago on April 16, Hayward won a $100,000 prize on a "Jumbo Bucks" Scratchers ticket he purchased at Smith’s Station in Bolivar. "People tell me I am lucky," he said. "You’ve just got to buy a ticket, if you want to win." Hayward, who owns rental property and is in the recycling business, said he isn’t sure what he will do with his second windfall. He said he used the first prize money to pay off the loan on his house, buy a new roof and share some with his family. He still has some of that prize money left that he plans to use to buy a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. "Triple Money," a $1 game, officially went on sale July 2.
