ST. LOUIS AREA PLAYERS GET $25,000 TAX FREE
At a time of the year when many Missourians are worried about paying their taxes, two St. Louis area residents are letting the lottery take care of it after winning $25,000 tax paid* in SHOW ME 5. Donald Bittick, 42, of Bridgeton, and Brenda James, 40, of Overland, each won the game’s top prize last week. Bittick, who signed loan papers on a new house the same day as his win, plans to use the money for it. He selected the winning numbers on his ticket for the April 8 draw that he purchased at Klaas Market, 1179 Natural Bridge Road in Bridgeton. Those winning numbers were: 4, 6, 16, 21 and 26.
James, who works for an investment company, let the computer pick her lucky numbers on the $1 ticket she bought for the April 9 drawing at Smoke World, 67 N. Florissant Road in St. Louis. The winning numbers were: 9, 12, 22, 24 and 27.
* Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
