Steelville Man Uses Birthdays To Win $100,000

Story Photo A 24-year-old Steelville man used family birthdays to play Powerball and ended up winning $100,000. Brandon Spindler said he has been playing the same set of numbers ? 2, 5, 7, 10 and 30 ? since he was 18 years old. "I’ll pay some bills and put the rest in the bank," said Spindler. Spindler purchased his winning ticket for the May 21 drawing at Country Mart, 43 E. Highway 8 in Steelville. He didn’t realize that he’d won a large prize until several days later, when he noticed a sign about the win at the store. "I was amazed, and I started shaking a little," he said. To date, 735 tickets worth $100,000 have been sold in Missouri since the Powerball game started in April 1992.
