Shelbina Woman Wins $20,000 Cash

Story Photo A Shelbina woman didn’t hesitate to help out when the business she manages needed some $1 bills on June 1. She gave $18 worth in exchange for some Scratchers tickets and wound up winning $20,000. Kelly Weaver, manager at Dobyn’s Market, 109 W. Maple St. in Shelbina, said she plans to pay bills and take her kids shopping with her winnings.

"They needed $1 bills," Weaver said about her place of employment. "I took the tickets home and scratched all of them, except for two."

Weaver, 31, said the two tickets, both "Firecracker Cash" lay on her kitchen table over night until her son said something about them the next day.

"When I saw the first $2,000, I was thrilled," she said. "I still can’t believe I won $20,000."

The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Firecracker Cash" game officially started May 14.
