INDEPENDENCE COUPLE GET $10,000 BONUS

A retired Independence couple got an early and unexpected holiday bonus when they scratched off a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Holiday Bingo" Scratcher ticket. Florence Brunson, 76, said she and her husband, Delbert, thought they had won $250 until redeeming the ticket at the Lottery’s Independence office today, when they learned they had won much more. Delbert purchased the winning ticket Nov. 10 at the Independence Lottery office, located at 3630 Arrowhead Ave. The Brunson’s have been buying and checking their lottery tickets at the Independence office for several years. "We love the people here," said Florence. "We really like the way they treat us." Florence said the money will come in handy for added Christmas gifts, since their family is growing with grandchildren. The couple also plan to use some of their winnings next summer, when they travel in their motor home.
