Sweet Springs Woman Grants Husband's Winning Wishes

Story Photo A Sweet Springs woman nearly granted her husband’s winning wishes April 21 when she uncovered $10,000 on a "Super Sapphire Blue 7’s" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.  Patricia "Patty" Blackerby, 49, said she and her husband, Randall, had stopped at Fast Lane, 1013 West Boulevard in Columbia to buy some gas and a few Scratchers tickets on their way to work Thursday morning.

"My husband was driving, and I was scratching," said Blackerby, who works at Town & Country Motors in Sweet Springs.

"He said, ’Scratch that ticket and win me $20,000.’  I started adding up the winnings and said, ’How about $10,000?’"

The couple, who just celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary the day before, said they plan to use the money to buy and restore a 1936 Ford coupe and take a trip to Las Vegas to visit family.

"Super Sapphire Blue 7’s," a $5 game, officially went on sale Feb. 26.
