Salisbury Man Digs Up $10,000
A Salisbury digger operator uncovered $10,000 on a "Viva Las Vegas" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on his way home from work April 21. Charles Harrington, 32, said he stopped at Quick Run, 1003 S. Hughes in Hamilton, to buy a soda and some Scratchers tickets. On the first set of tickets, he won $69 on a $2 "Fast $50" ticket. He decided to cash it in and buy a couple more; one of those turned out to be worth $10,000.
Harrington’s wife, Jacque, said she knew something was wrong when her husband came home from work.
"He had a look on his face like something was wrong," she said. "He was shaking a little bit, and he said to me, ’How would you like me to buy you that new computer you’ve been wanting?’"
In addition to a new computer, the couple said they plan to use the money to buy some land.
"Viva Las Vegas," a $5 game, officially went on sale July 31, 2004.
