May's Lottery Team Of The Month: "Jackie's Jokesters"

Congratulations to "Jackie’s Jokesters" from the Springfield area!   Their group was recognized as the Lottery Team of the Month for May as part of the Missouri Lottery’s 2005 Lottery Captains’ promotion, which awards a Lottery players group with cool prizes and a feature at each month during the calendar year.

"Jackie’s Jokesters" is a group of 23 friends who have played the Lottery together for the past two years.   Each member contributes $2 a week to pool $60, which is divided among tickets for three games:  Powerball ($30), Lotto ($15) and SHOWME 5 Paydown ($15).

The team members are:

Terry Cain, Springfield
Rose Spychalski, Springfield
Becky Dodds, Springfield

Jackie Bright, the Lottery Captain for the group, said they (the "Jokesters") are planning a "Lottery party" so that everyone can be together and have fun when they open their prize packages from the Lottery.

The group has won some significant prizes throughout the years, one as much as $750, but there is something more that keeps this group of friends playing together week after week.

"We play with hopes that we can retire and live life like a lot of people can.   Everyone wants to be a millionaire," Bright said.  "We dream a lot of getting out of debt, helping our kids, taking a nice vacation or retiring early."

Bright said she usually buys the group’s tickets at Bullseye, 1657 W. State Hwy J in Ozark.

"We use Quick Pick to select our numbers, and if we win more than $20 we divide the winnings among group members," said Bright.   "Anything less than $20, we use to buy more tickets."

Congratulations again and good luck to "Jackie’s Jokesters" of Springfield!
