Independence Woman Wins $100,000 Playing Powerball

Story Photo An Independence woman is $100,000 richer after her five white-ball numbers matched all five drawn in the Feb. 12 Powerball drawing. Regina Anderson, 47, said she and her husband, Bobby, planned to use the prize money to pay bills. "My husband was going to get gas, and I told him to check it (ticket)," she said. "I was crying (when she found out about the prize). I told everyone." Anderson purchased the winning ticket on Feb. 7 at Quick Stop, 18700 E. 24 Highway in Independence, when she stopped to buy gas. She let the computer pick the lucky numbers. They were: 18, 21, 28, 49 and 50. To date, 724 tickets worth $100,000 have been sold in Missouri since the Powerball game started in April 1992.
