The Westminster Winners are a group of 14 co-workers who work together in the admissions office at Westminster College in Fulton. For the past five years, whenever the Powerball jackpot has approached the $50 million mark, the group has pooled their money to play.
Colleen Fletcher, the Lottery Captain for the group, said she usually buys the group’s tickets at Fast Lane, 1001 Bluff St. in Fulton.
"We use Quick Pick to select our numbers, and then I make copies of the tickets and pass them out to everyone prior to the drawing," said Fletcher. "When we win, we put the money back in (the pool) for the next drawing."
Group member, Pat Kirby, said the most important thing that keeps them playing week after week is, "Captain Colleen’s enthusiasm and the desire to retire early."
"When we win, Colleen said she’s going to pick us all up in a white limo," said group member Kelle Silvey.
This fun-loving group of co-workers not only enjoys playing the Lottery together, they also have a lot of fun working together.
When asked what advice they would give to other Lottery teams, Brian Crouse spoke for the rest of the group in saying, "It’s really important to have a good captain who is diligent and a great communicator."
