Marlborough Man Wins $50,000 Tax Paid Using Birthdays
A Marlborough man is looking forward to paying some bills off after he won $50,000 tax paid* playing SHOW ME 5 Paydown on Jan. 16. Roy May, 73, said he won the prize using a set of numbers he has played since the game started. The numbers ? 8, 11, 13, 17 and 21 ? are family birthdays.
May, a retired truck driver, purchased the winning ticket for the evening drawing at 7-Eleven, 8250 Watson Road in St. Louis.
To date, 85 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
