Herculaneum Woman Wins Trip To Vegas

Story Photo A 37-year-old Herculaneum woman can celebrate her fiance’s birthday in Las Vegas after uncovering a trip prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Viva Las Vegas" Scratchers game. Cynthia "Cindy" Van Meter said she has been to Vegas three or four times. She might take the trip in March with her fiancÚ to celebrate his birthday. Van Meter said she bought just one Scratchers ticket on Jan. 8, when she and her boyfriend stopped at Magre Liquors, 627 Highway 61 and 67 in Festus, before going out for the night. She scratched the ticket off in the car, and they stopped at another retail location to verify the win. Van Meter’s travel package includes a four-day, three-night trip for two to Las Vegas, round-trip airfare, a choice of deluxe hotel accommodations, hotel ground transfers to and from the airport and $500 spending money. The Lottery will pay 25 percent of federal and 4 percent of state withholding taxes based on the total trip prize value. In addition to 60 trip prizes in the $5 "Viva Las Vegas" game, there are also thousands of cash prizes, including $100,000 prizes.
