Williams Named Unofficial Grand-Prize Winner in Final Holiday Drawing

A St. Louis (63113*) woman who just got her driver’s permit will be starting out the new year with a brand new 2005 Ford Explorer XLT® or the cash equivalent ? in the Missouri Lottery’s third "Yule Tide Thrill Ride" holiday promotion drawing, held Jan. 19 in Jefferson City. Mady Williams, 44, was named the unofficial top-prize winner in the third and final drawing. When Williams provides the Lottery with the actual tickets she used to enter the promotion via the Web site, she will be named the official winner. Williams has 14 days to submit those tickets.
Williams, who is a mortgage processor for the United States Department of Agriculture in St. Louis, said she is not sure if she will take the vehicle or the cash value, which is $33,500.
"That (winning) helps out a lot," she said.
Williams’ winning entry consisted of 10 $1 non-winning tickets from the "Merry Money" Scratchers game. She purchased her winning tickets at Balcony Candy/Snack Shop, 1520 Market St. in St. Louis.
The Lottery received 175,570 entries for the third drawing; 54 percent of the entrants entered through the Lottery’s Web site, and 46 percent of entrants mailed their entries or delivered them to a Missouri Lottery office.
In addition to the grand-prize 2005 Ford Explorer XLT® and $500 or the cash equivalent in the third drawing, 55 cash prizes - five worth $2,500 and 50 worth $500 - were also awarded. A complete list of unofficial winners can be found at molottery.com.
Players entered the promotion by submitting $10 worth of non-winning Scratchers tickets from five holiday-theme games: "$300,000 Holiday Cash," "Season’s Greetings," "Holiday Bingo," "Ho Ho Holidays" and "Merry Money."
