Holts Summit Man Wins $25,003

Story Photo A Holts Summit man gave payday a new meaning when he stopped for breakfast and ended up winning $25,003 instantly on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Melvin McCaleb Sr., 25, said he had just gotten off work on the morning of Jan. 14 when he and his wife, Vanessa, stopped at Holts Summit Zip Stop, 120 E. Simon Blvd. in Holts Summit, for the store’s 99-cent biscuits and gravy special. While waiting for their breakfast to be cooked, he bought a few Scratchers tickets, and one ticket from the "Lucky 7’s Bingo" game ended up being worth $25,003. "We’ll put it in a savings account for the kids," said McCaleb, who works the third shift at Scholastics. "We may pay some down on the house (mortgage), too." The McCalebs said they also might buy a new car with some of the winnings. ?Lucky 7’s Bingo,? a $2 game, officially went on sale Dec. 25, 2004.
