Kansas City Man Wins $77,000 Top Prize
It took a Kansas City man several seconds for the shock to wear off and to realize how much money he won on Jan. 8 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "Super Red Ruby 7’s" Scratchers game. Greg Glidewell, 62, said he first looked at his ticket and was pleased to see that he won $77. Then he looked again and saw the comma and three 0s, and he thought he was looking at the ticket wrong.
I scratched it off at work," Glidewell said. "I had to show it to the rest of the guys to see if I was seeing it right."
Glidewell said he still cannot believe he won $77,000, the game’s top prize. He said his wife, Jean, didn’t believe him either.
Glidewell is retired, but works part-time at Smith Brothers Hardware in Raytown. He purchased his winning ticket at Coddington’s Thriftway, 6240 Raytown Trafficway in Raytown. The Glidewells plan to put the money in the bank to help with their retirement.
"Super Ruby Red 7’s," a $5 game, officially went on sale Sept. 9.
