Poplar Bluff Man Wins $100,000 Instantly

A Poplar Bluff man got an early Christmas present when he turned $1 into $100,000 instantly. William "Bill" Ward said he purchased a $1 Scratchers ticket on Dec. 21 and won $5. He then redeemed that winning ticket for one $5 "Season’s Greetings" ticket, which turned out to be worth $100,000.
Ward said he waited until he got home to scratch off the "Season’s Greetings" ticket. When he saw how much he won, he showed the ticket to his wife, Ingeborg, and "she started shaking when she saw the amount."
ard, 51, an auto mechanic, said he is raising two of his grandchildren, so the winnings will come in handy. Ward purchased his winning ticket at 53 Package-Grocery-Gas, Highway 53 South in Poplar Bluff.
"Season’s Greetings," a $5 game, officially went on sale Oct. 30.
