Kansas City Man Wins $25,000 Playing Powerball With Power Play

A Kansas City (64134*) man won five times more money - $25,000 instead of $5,000 - by using Powerball’s Power Play feature on a ticket he bought for the Dec. 11 drawing. James "Jim" Jones, 61, said he plays Powerball each draw and he always uses Power Play. "For another $1, you can’t go wrong," he said. Jones purchased his winning ticket at Barnyard Liquor, 9510 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Kansas City. The winning numbers, which he let the computer select, were: 6, 7, 41, 53 and the Powerball number was 23. Jones said he will probably use the prize money for Christmas presents for his 14 grandchildren. "We may take a cruise," he said. "We’ve never been on one, and we’ve always wanted to take one." Players who select the $1 Power Play feature can multiply their winnings, not including jackpots, up to five times the original amount. A wheel is spun during the regular Powerball drawing on Wednesday and Saturday to select a two, three, four or five to determine the Power Play amount.
