Centralia Man Wins $5,000 In Powerball

Story Photo A Centralia man won $5,000 on Dec. 1 by playing the Missouri Lottery’s Powerball game. Carroll Newberry, 63, said he only buys tickets every "now and then," when the jackpot gets high. The Dec. 1 jackpot was estimated at $145 million. "I’ll pay off a credit card and probably put the rest in the bank," he said. "We might go down to the lake some weekend, too." Newberry, who is retired but works part-time at the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, purchased his winning ticket at Break Time, 1411 W. Monroe in Mexico.
