BONNE TERRE MAN WINS $1.8 MILLION LOTTO JACKPOT

Exactly one week after his 46th birthday, a Bonne Terre man received a huge surprise after matching all six numbers to win the July 10 Missouri Lotto jackpot worth $1.8 million. Bernie Kemper said he now plans to buy a house and a new car. He no longer worries about helping his two daughters finance their college education. Kemper, an engineer, purchased his winning ticket at Reeve’s Penny Pincher in Bonne Terre. He selected the winning numbers at random. The winning numbers were 21, 26, 28, 29, 32 and 34. Kemper will receive the prize in 25 annual payments of approximately $72,000 before taxes. Reeve’s Penny Pincher will receive a bonus check of $18,000 - an amount equal to 1 percent of the jackpot - for selling the winning Lotto ticket. To date, 150 winning Missouri Lottery tickets worth $1 million or more have been sold since the Lottery began in January 1986. Of those, 108 were from the Missouri Lotto game. One Missouri Lotto jackpot worth $1.7 million remains unclaimed. That ticket was sold at Git-N-Go, 2808 S. Campbell in Springfield for the Feb. 20, 1999, drawing. The ticket will expire exactly one year from the drawing date.
